THE SECOND ADVENT
THE COMING OF “ONE LIKE THE SON OF MAN”
Letter #12 In The Series
March 1999
What did God tell Moses?
When Moses was in the Mountain with God, God gave to Moses the plan of salvation. God told Moses that He, the Son of God, would become the second Adam. By becoming the second Adam He would be a brother to Adam, and being a brother the Law of the kinsman redeemer would have the main application for redeeming this world from Satan. God told Moses the Sacrifices would point to those who would perform the different parts of His plan. God explained that because of sin, “the wages of sin is death”, Adam had no heir to receive Adam’s will, the inheritance; Satan had taken his authority. God told Moses that He Himself would be born as all children are and would die as the ransom for sin. God explained that this death would not only be the ransom for sin, but that it would also be like the deep sleep that Adam went into when He (God) had divided Adam male and female. God told Moses that they, the second Adam and Eve, would have an heir (Son). This heir would receive the authority that had been lost through sin, thus removing the crown from Satan; this would bruise the serpent’s head. God explained to Moses that when He accomplished this, the sons of Adam would become the brothers of the Heir, and also receive the reward of His righteousness. God explained that it was His will that none should perish, but all should receive a share of this will or testament. God explained that when this part of His plan was completed, He would recreate all that had been changed because of sin; and He also explained that this was just a short period in His creation. God gave to Moses the harvest times which pointed to His advents. God showed Moses His character and wrote it on two tables of stone.
Jesus Said, And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14
According to the dictionary, gospel means, glad tidings, especially concerning salvation and the kingdom of God. So then “Gospel of the kingdom” would mean glad tidings of the kingdom. What kingdom? Jesus said, “I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God shall come.”
After Jesus death and resurrection, when talking with two of His disciples ...beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Luke 24:27. So if Jesus used the prophets to show things about Himself, then we can use the prophets to tell of the kingdom. Daniel tells us, And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Daniel 2:44.
Types for the Kingdom
When God created this world He placed man in the Garden and said ...Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion... Genesis 1:28.
Dominion - Strong’s #7287. The words used from 7287 are rule, ruled, ruler, reign, took, taken, bare, and bear. From this we see that Adam and Eve were the rulers in the beginning and they reigned till sin was found in them. Jesus said Elijah truly is coming first and will restore all things. (Matthew 17:11).
And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself. Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. Exodus 19:3-6.
When we see the phrase, “keep my covenant” the first thing we think is that Israel failed, so there is no more covenant for them. Whether Israel failed or not has nothing to do with the kingdom, or concerning salvation. For the covenant was given first to Adam and Eve, then renewed to Noah, and to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The promise to Abraham, And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and I will make thy name great; and thou shall be a blessing: I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:2-3. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Genesis 22:18. (Numbers 23:19-20, Psalm 89:34 Romans 11:29)
Here we see, not only the promise, (gospel- glad tidings, especially concerning salvation and the kingdom of God) was given to Abraham, but through his seed, (the Jews), all Nations were to know of the King and the Kingdom.
Hebrews tells us, For the law (the law that was given to Moses) having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Hebrews 10:1
Here we see that the only sacrifices that can make perfect are the ones the animal sacrifices point to, Messiah, or the King of the Kingdom. Since Jesus only healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out the devils and forgave sins there must be another application to “make those who approach perfect”. It is very interesting that Jesus said ...The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. Matthew 23:2-3.
Here we see that Jesus is telling us that the Jews (scribes and Pharisees) know what the laws of the kingdom are, but do not do them. The Lord talking through Malachi says,
Remember ye the Law of Moses, my servant... Malachi 4:4.
Why should we remember “the laws of Moses”? In remembering the laws of Moses we not only remember the creation of the world, but the plan for the redemption of the world. These laws, “the laws of Moses” were to govern the life style so the people did not forget their God. (Also a type). When God brought Israel into the desert and made them a kingdom and a nation this, also, became a type. So now we have two types, 1) at the creation and 2) in the desert. The type is like the negative of a picture and the anti-type, like the picture. So the kingdom in type begins with life without death. Then the kingdom in the wilderness shows the death, this death is because of the laws of the kingdom. “The wages of sin is death”.
The anti-type-type
The kingdom, “in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom”, This Kingdom, in the beginning, also has death. Then moves into the part of the kingdom where there is life without death. This kingdom begins in the wilderness, or desert. Jesus said, Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Matthew 21:43.
The kingdom, “will be taken from you” shows a change. This change is like, “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.” One of the meanings of, “bringing forth the fruits thereof”, shows the life that has been restored.
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. Hebrews 10:1 NKJV.
Here we see that the shadow of the law points to the thing that makes the shadow. The thing that makes the shadow sometimes is death, and sometimes is life. This offering beginning with the offering of Isaac, and Isaac escaping death shows the very image of the thing, or the Messiah that lives, while the ram that was offered shows the Messiah that would die. Also, this shadow is seen in the Atonement when the two goats are offered, one that dies, the other that is taken into the wilderness and set free. So when Jesus came and forgave the sins of the people, He was the one who “made those who approach perfect.” Now when the one comes who escapes death He will “make those who approach perfect”, by giving life. Galatians 3:16 tells us the promises were made to Abraham and to Christ.
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Hebrews 11:17.
Jesus said ...Come you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matthew 25:34.
This verse and others show us the reason Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah is the everlasting Father, “from the foundation of the world”. The Law of Moses gives us the law of the kinsman redeemer. The kinsman is a Father, and the heir is the Son. Paul tells us that we are children of God ...And if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ... Romans 8:17.
Hebrews, also tells us the Messiah is a Father when it uses the word testator. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Hebrews 9:16-17. Jesus the Messiah, made sure the will (testament) at the cross. In Matthew 18:5 and Luke 9:48, Jesus prophesied of the child who would come in His name.
Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? ...Who Has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know? Proverbs 30:4. John 3:13 Says ...no one has ascended, but He who came from heaven, “that is, the son of Man who is in heaven.” Here we see the Messiah as the Father, but who is His Son, and what is His name? This all shows the first and second advent.
We all know about the song of Moses and the Lamb. What is the song of Moses? In Deuteronomy 31, we find the story of when Moses received the song (law), and placed it in the sides of the Ark. Reading carefully we notice the word song, law and Book of the Law are used interchangeably in this story. So if we wish to sing the Song of Moses and the Lamb, we will have to learn or “Remember the law of Moses” - The Law that will govern Messiah’s Kingdom. To “Remember” or learn the law of Moses gives us the times in the law when God works. After all, Jesus the Son of God was born according to the law, was baptized, began His ministry, died and rose again all according to the law that was given to Moses.
When we see the phrase, “keep my covenant” the first thing we think is that Israel failed, so there is no more covenant for them. “...and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because thou hast obeyed my voice. Genesis 12:2-3. Here we have two translations one says families the other nations. We know that the Messiah came through the lineage of Abraham, but if Abraham’s seed (the Jews) is lost then how is it that “in thee shall all the families (or nations) of the earth be blessed.”?
Heir = Also a type
Jesus said ...All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18. God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, Hebrews 1:1-2. Here we see that Jesus, the Son of God, not only made the worlds, but when born here on earth became heir. This becomes a type for the Second Advent.
Anti-type-type
For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Hebrews 9:16-17.
Here we see that the testament, Plan of salvation, needs not only a receiver of the will, but also one to make the will, testament, sure. Again the law of the kinsman redeemer shows that the child or Son, is the heir. So not understanding the Law of Moses, the law that God gave to govern His kingdom there is no way that anyone can preach the “gospel of the kingdom”. Thus the gospel in the light of “the law of Moses” is the only way that the “gospel of the kingdom” will ever be completed. Hebrews tells us, For the law, (the law that was given to Moses) having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. Hebrews 10:1.
There are at least three different sacrifices, (1) the male that dies (2) the male that is set free in the wilderness. (3) and the female. These sacrifices all point to, or have “a shadow of good things to come”. Jesus, The Messiah when He came said, But the Helper, (comforter) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, And bring all things to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26.
We know that when God made man He said, “Let Us make man in Our image.” So the woman (Eve) was made in the image of the Spirit, or the feminine, Mother, part of the God Head. So, the female sacrifices were pointing to Jesus other self, or His Helper. “Glad tidings of the kingdom”, is to know who the queen is. Jesus said, “Ye must be born again.” The only ones who give birth are the females, so, if we are to be born of the Spirit then the Spirit must be the mother.
The Law of Moses says to “Honor thy father and thy mother. ...And if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ... Romans 8:17. Do we really believe that we are children of God? If we claim to really believe and actually “remember ye the Law of Moses”, how can we show “Honor” to our heavenly mother if we continue to call Her, “He”?
