SA-L2b Seventy Weeks 1997

THE SECOND ADVENT

THE COMING OF “ONE LIKE THE SON OF MAN”

Letter #2B In The Series

January 1997

The continuation of the Prophetic (symbolic)

And Literal Prophecy - Type and Antitype

Seventy Weeks

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy Holy City. To finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the streets shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. and after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for Himself...And He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease... Daniel 9:24-26.

The angel had been sent to Daniel for the express purpose of explaining to him the point which he had failed to understand in the vision of the eighth chapter, the statement relative to time-”unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.” After bidding Daniel “understand the matter, and consider the vision,” the very first words of the angel are: “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy Holy City.” The word here translated “determined” literally signifies “cut off”. Seventy weeks, representing 490 years, are declared by the angel to be cut off, as specially pertaining to the Jews. But from what were they cut off? As the 2300 days was the only period of time mentioned in chapter 8, it must be the period from which the seventy weeks were cut off; the seventy weeks must therefore be part of the 2300 days, and the two periods must begin together. The seventy weeks were declared by the angel to date from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. If the date of this commandment could be found, then the starting point for the great period of the 2300 days would be ascertained.  Great Controversy 326.

“from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince”

Type:  (Prophetic Prophecy).  The Seventy weeks began with the decree by King Artaxerxes of Persia in the year 457 BC, and ran for 490 years ending in 34 AD.  The last week of the seventy weeks began in the fall of 27 AD at Jesus’ baptism, and ends in 34 AD when the Gospel was taken to the Gentiles.  It is in the middle of this week of years that Daniel 9:27 applies.

Antitype:  (Literal Prophecy).  The seventy weeks begins with an announcement (decree G.C. 637 Daniel 12:2) from heaven (Revelation 11:15-16) renewing His great covenant (Revelation 11:19) proclaiming the second coming, and continues for 490 days.  It is during this time, the prophecy says, The streets shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times.  This time is spent, following a blueprint provided by God, making ready a place for the Lord to dwell with His people.  Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. Revelation 21:3.  This time is also a time of witnessing, Noah not only preached the coming destruction, but also worked showing that he believed what he preached.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy Holy City.”

Type:  The “thy people” in this prophecy is the people of the same nationality as Daniel.  As we examine the events at the end of this prophecy we see the old leadership being left behind because they rejected their Lord.  The new leadership is brought to view, as God at Pentecost pours out His Spirit on the 120 in the upper room and the 3000 being converted in a day.

Antitype:  The events in our day will be no less incredible.  Paul tells us that salvation is for the Jews first, the same as the “thy people” in Daniel’s time.  So in our day at Pentecost God will pour out His Spirit upon 144,000.  We are told that this 144,000-12,000 from each tribe, are sealed.  The thing that seals them is the understanding of Messiah the Suffering Sacrifice, Messiah the Prince, and the Holy Spirit Mother who gives birth to the righteous.  One family, one name.  See Acts 4:12.

Type:  The Jerusalem that Jesus the Suffering Sacrifice came to was the Jerusalem that was and still is in bondage, in bondage to “the wages of sin is death”.  This is what Jesus was “cut off” from - sin and death have no more a hold upon Him.

Antitype:  The Jerusalem that Messiah the Prince will come to is the Jerusalem that is free.  It is to this city, a place in the wilderness prepared by God that the woman flees.  The middle of Jer-USA-lem or USA is a key to where the city will be.  USA in prophecy is the beast with lamb like horns.  The two horns (Powers Luke 1:69 horn of Salvation) show the two kinds of redemption, redemption from sin, the wages of which are death, and redemption or birth into the family that gives life.  This understanding allows us to comprehend what it is the Messiahs are “cut off” from.  Messiah the suffering Sacrifice is cut off from Sin and Messiah the Prince is cut off from the “wages of sin is death” into life. (See John 5:4 & 18).  One has to die; one has to live to complete the atonement.  This death and life is also indicative of what happens to the leadership both religious and civil when God takes control.  Those that will not let God lead will be stripped of their authority (Vocational Death) and it will be given to those who will bring forth fruit (Life) in its season.

“even in troublesome times”.

The key to the understanding of the troublesome times is “hurt not...till we have sealed”.  When the 144,000 come into view they are sealed.  Sealed with the understanding of the Messiah Family, (Father, Mother, Son), that brings salvation.  We are told that this group, priests and kings, have religious and civil authority.  This body is the nucleus of the new stone kingdom government, and serve under the One “whose right it is”.  As God begins to remove the authority from the nations and gives it to His kingdom, the strife begins.  No one likes to lose authority, and as in times past they will go to great lengths, even murder, to keep it from happening.  The Angels that are holding the four winds are only admonished to hold until the 144,000 are sealed.

Type one:  The four winds stirred up the sea when the four different one world kingdoms came up from the sea.  Daniel 7

Antitype one:  God’s Kingdom being established during the time the winds are let loose.

Type Two:  Jacob’s wrestling, or time of trouble, and then his meeting with Esau. Esau had taken care of his Fathers affairs and now it was time to turn them over to Jacob. Also, this is the time that Jacob’s love died. Rachel, was Jacob’s first love, his four wives are the mothers of his twelve sons.

Antitype Two:  The meeting with the typical Esau gives us the understanding of the change in leadership in the antitype; giving room for the “Child” (Him whose right it is) that Jesus promised to send in His “Name” Luke 9:48.  The four wives in antitype are the mothers of the 144,000. When the antitypical Rachel dies what happens? Leah represents the legal wife and Rachel a sister church, the beloved. The death of Rachel enables believers to worship ...from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another... Isaiah 66:23  Those who have put the “literal”, in the place of the “prophetic” will have a very hard time “wrestling” because they lose the understanding of both prophecies.  Those who have put Jesus’ coming in the clouds before the kingdom will also have a hard time during “Jacob’s time of trouble”.

Messiah the Prince.

Type:  Jesus, Messiah the Suffering Sacrifice, came to this world to shed His blood and die as the “testator”.  It is in this role that He would make sure the will and leave everything to His Son.  The Jewish nation was in bondage and was looking for the Messiah the PRINCE to come and rule with a rod of iron, and thus rejected the one that most of their rites and traditions pointed to.

Antitype; The Child, Messiah the Prince, is born with all the power and authority bequeathed to Him by His Father.  “One Name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved”.  Jesus was given all power in Heaven and Earth, and now as the Heir the Child rules in His Father’s name.  The Christian Church, in looking for the return of Jesus as King of Kings to receive His Kingdom, is in jeopardy of rejecting the Child, which Jesus promised to send in His Name.  Isaiah 11 says that “A little child shall lead them”.

In the midst of the week Messiah shall be cut off.

We have touched upon how Jesus came and was cut off in the midst of the seventieth week of years.  And how His church continued preaching to the Jewish nation for the rest of the week of years, until the stoning of Steven, at which time the Gospel was taken to the gentiles.  This brought to an end the seventy weeks, prophetic time and becomes a type of the work the Woman of Revelation 12 does for the second half of the week in our time. This also brings to an end the main work for the Jews, and begins the time of the Gentiles.  Using this type as an example we can understand what the woman of Revelation 12 does for the three and one half years, time times and half a time, literal time that she is in the wilderness.

Jesus promised to send His Helper (John 14:26), His Spirit, who was to lead into all truth, this He did in power.  Now in the “Literal” He will send His Wife - His other self.  As Jesus, started with Moses and the prophets showing all things concerning Himself, so the Spirit, the Woman, will show all things concerning the things that the “WORD” has said. This work will prepare us to “sing the Song of Moses, and the Song of the Lamb.

Now let us look at the literal week of Passover because the “midst of the week” has a double application.

Type:  Messiah, the Suffering Sacrifice came to this earth and donned the sinful nature of man, but because He had no sin He could pay the penalty for sin.  His resurrection on the fourth day of the Passover week (midst of the week) shows the cutting off from sin, allowing Him to be (caught up) unto Heaven to be accepted by His Father.

Antitype:  Messiah the Prince will come to this earth clothed in His Father’s righteousness.  Just as baptism is a public declaration that we are willing to receive the new birth, so as the Son breaks through the water in childbirth, He is the first to receive the birth Jesus spoke to Nicodemus about.  “Whoever has been born of God does not sin...” 1 John 3:9 & 5:5.  So when the promised Son is born He also is “cut off” from sin.  And like the Sun was placed in the sky on the middle of the week so the Son is caught up to Heaven in the middle of the week.

In Leviticus 16 we have a dead and a live atonement that points to the work of the Messiah, this dead and live atonement shows the cutting off in the midst of the week. The High Priest makes an atonement, then in verse 32 the High Priest’s Son makes an atonement. These two atonements, death and life, are, To finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness. Some think that Satan is the scapegoat, but Satan can not make a live Atonement, for he dies and there are not two dead Atonements.

“and in the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.”

In the prophetic prophecy we have a very interesting type. The male animal sacrifice pointed to the Messiah that would die.  Jesus’ death brought the animal sacrifice to an end.  In the antitype Paul in Romans 12:1 tells us to ...present your bodies a living Sacrifice...  This living sacrifice points to the Messiah that makes a live Atonement. Hebrews 10:10 says that ...He takes away the first that He may establish the second.  The story of Abraham offering his son foretells “the cutting off in the midst of the week”, as both offerings are brought to view.  The “Ram” caught in the bush points to the Messiah that dies. Isaac, the promised son, placed on the altar, points to the promised Son, the Son that escapes death, the live Atonement. When this Atonement is completed, “Death and Life”, then the sacrifices will have done the work the Lord planned and the sacrifice and oblation will cease.  Hebrews 9:22 says, And ALMOST all things are by the law purged with blood and without shedding of blood is no remission.  And Hebrews 10:17-18 tells us I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.  This will “bring in everlasting righteousness,”

As Abraham lifted the knife to slay His son, the Angel of the Lord called to Him, and turning, he saw behind him, a Ram caught in the thicket by his HORNS, (representing TWO powers “as one”).  Thus, Abraham offered up the Ram instead of his son.  When Isaac had inquired of his father about the sacrifice, Abraham said, ‘God will provide Himself, (as) a lamb for the burnt offering.’  Abraham did not offer a Lamb: but rather, a Ram, Father of the Lamb.  God provided Himself as a sacrifice in this symbolism.  God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.  That is, the Father’s name in this text means ‘Jehovah will provide.’  This offering was made on Mount Moriah, the temple site.  ‘In the mount of the Lord it will be seen.’  The MIND is renewed and sealed.  When renewed, to ‘SEE AS GOD SEES’ and is given full spiritual SIGHT, mental powers, and understanding.  The truth is evident that Isaac typified a Messiah Who would not die, but live, saved from death in trespasses and sin.  The Bride of Christ Pt. 5.

The cutting off mentioned is like; the stone cut out of the mountain and becomes a great mountain.  Thus we have two mountains, the one the stone was cut out of, and the new one it would become. Daniel 2.  Also, in Ezekiel 17:4.  He cropped off (cut off) its topmost young twig and carried it to a land of trade. (U.S.A).  He planted it there making two trees.  In Zechariah 4, there is a lamp stand with a golden bowl standing by two olive trees, these trees empty of themselves oil, through pipes into the bowl, which feeds the lamps (the seven churches). The question is asked what be these two trees, and the answer comes back, from the Angel, these are the TWO anointed ones. The seventy weeks are “to anoint the most holy.” The anointing of the Most Holy takes place in both the prophetic prophecy and in the literal prophecy, in the middle of the week.

Revelation 12

The prophetic prophecy (symbolic application) of Revelation 12 has to do with the Christian Church, represented by the woman, fleeing into the wilderness for a period of 1260 day-years (a day for a year).  In the literal application the woman could not signify the Christian Church but only a literal woman and the child, her own literal child and no other because before the child (Jesus) was born, the Christian church was not yet in existence. Using the symbolism of the child being Jesus, His mother would not be called Christian because His mother was the Jewish Church. The Child, of Revelation 12, was caught up to heaven. Jesus was not a child (infant) when He went to Heaven. He was the head or husband of the church—not the son, or heir. This historical application is obviously not the literal.

The 1260 days, the period of time mentioned in Revelation 12, are years, and span the time that Papal Rome reigned supreme, from 538 to 1798. The beast, with Lamb like horns brought to view in Revelation 13:11, came up out of the earth (wilderness), and applies to the new world government, the USA which became a nation to be reckoned with in 1776, just a little time before the 1260 years were finished, allowing the woman to flee into the wilderness. She “fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God...” the land of the “beast” with two lamb like horns, the wilderness. These facts prove the prophecy prophetic. (symbolic)

When the prophecy of Revelation 12 is literal the woman is Jesus’ helpmeet, “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman...” The mother that brings forth the child in accordance with the law of the “Kinsman Redeemer”. The child being caught up to heaven is given all the authority of His live Father, and the inheritance of His dead Father.  Revelation 21:7 says this is the “heir”. Daniel 7:13-14 calls Him, “One like the Son of Man” who is given “dominion and glory and a kingdom,” the authority that His dead Father, Adam, lost because of his death (sin). The woman flees into the wilderness to a place God has prepared. This is the New Jerusalem John saw coming down from Heaven. The City (the streets shall be builded again) that was promised to Abraham was also promised to Christ, all the promises that were made to Abraham are also made to Christ. See Galatians 3:16.

Who is the Barren woman?  The Mother of us all.

These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants.  One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written: “Be glad, O barren woman, who bears no children; break forth and cry aloud, you who have no labor pains; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.” Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. But what does the Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Galatians 4:24-31 NIV

The reason the Spirit is barren has to do with the fact that She is the other intercessor.  See Romans 8:26.  At this time we will not go any deeper into what makes the Spirit barren, but will move on to what happens after the barren years are over.

Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once. Isaiah 66:8.  With the new birth we receive new hearts.  We become children of God entering into a new period of life without death, the earth being lightened with His Glory Revelation 18. This is what happens when the barren woman breaks forth with singing.

The Dragon

Revelation 12:3-4 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.  Verse 9 tells us that the dragon is Satan.

Type:  Satan attempts to kill Jesus in the slaughter of all the male babies two years and under.  Joseph is warned in a dream to flee with his wife and child into Egypt to safety.

Antitype:  The Child is caught up to God, even to the throne to safety.  Verse 10 says ...Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the Power of His Christ (the child in My Name Luke. 9: 48) for the accuser of our brethren is cast down... Daniel 7:13 says ...one like the Son of man came with the clouds...

The prophecy in Genesis 3:15, is about these two different comings.  With the first Messiah, Satan takes his best shot but the grave cannot hold Jesus.  ...thou shalt bruise his heel.  With the second Messiah, the crown belonging to Adam is ripped from Satan’s head and given to the heir. ...it shall bruise thy head...  The dragon had seven heads with ten horns, the removal of these horns (powers) is what bruises the heads. Satan caused the Son of God to bleed, but the blood that comes from the sevens heads is at least seven times the amount of blood that came from the hands and feet of Jesus. The reason that Satan tries to do away with the Child is because he knows what will happen to him. When the Child born according to the law of the kinsman redeemer is given the power of His dead father (Adam), the angel, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand can do his work.

“unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

Type:  (Prophetic Prophecy).  The 2300 days, a day for a year, brings us to the cleansing of the sanctuary, the Judgment time or the great day of Atonement.

Antitype:  (Literal Prophecy).  The 2300 days, about six years, brings us to another cleansing of the sanctuary, another Judgment time. These two cleansings bring in everlasting righteousness.  During this time, (2300 days), Satan is bound.

This part of the prophecy brings us to the time the High Priest went into the sanctuary, on the Day of Atonement, and brought the sins out and placed them on the Scapegoat.  The Scapegoat makes the live atonement (“One With” Leviticus 16:10). When Jesus went to heaven after His resurrection He was our High Priest, and because he contained the seed (Isaiah 53:10), he represented both the dead and live offerings in one. To finish the plan of salvation these offerings must be separated. This work is accomplished through the fulfillment of both the prophetic prophecy and the literal prophecy.  This allows for the judgment of the dead and the judgment of the living at two different times.

When Jesus told the parable of the talents, one was given five, another two, and the third was given one.  The individual with one buried his.  The dead are buried, so the message of the judgment of the dead, or the dead Atonement, is given to the individual having five, who doubled his making ten plus one.  Because the cutting off, death and life, are one in Jesus, so the one that was buried belongs with the cutting off, death and life, making one. Thus the one with five doubled is still ten, a universal message for the one World kingdom. (Rev. 11:15).  The time of bringing in everlasting righteousness has nothing to do with burying the dead, but has to do with showing His life, For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also because He is the Son of man.  This “LIFE” is that wine Jesus created with His first miracle (wedding supper). He saves the best till last. Thus the judgment of the living begins, according to the type, at the end of the 2300 days or about 6 years after the command (decree).

The coming on the clouds, of the Son of Man in Matthew 24, is the Child after He has received Power, Glory and the kingdom. Revelation 12 says the male Child rules all nations with a Rod, (Isa. 11:1 calls the Rod, the son of Jesse) or His Father. Revelation 3:21 says that He who overcomes will sit with Christ on His throne like He overcame and sat down with His Father on His throne. Revelation 21:7 says He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be His God and He shall be My Son.  The things that are inherited are from both Fathers according to the “Law of the Kinsman-redeemer”. Because the live Father (Kinsman-redeemer) is in heaven and the dead Father (Adam) is on Earth shows that the Son (heir) fills the place lost, because of sin, in both Heaven and Earth.

Revelation 10

Revelation 10 says that the angel is standing with his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the earth showing that the time starts in the old world (kingdoms) and reaches into the new world, the place in the wilderness-(kingdom).  At the end of this time (2300 years) the prophecy of the angel with the little book comes into play, (all about Jesus and His work as sacrifice and Priest).  John was bidden to eat this little book which was so sweet and tasted so good in the mouth, but when it got to the stomach it became so bitter.  This was the experience (The big disappointment at the end of the 2300 day prophecy), of those who were looking for Jesus to come in the clouds, when in reality it was the Heavenly and not the Earthly Sanctuary that was to be cleansed. Then the angel said you must prophesy again. This “again” shows that the prophetic prophecy has within it the literal prophecy and that the literal 2300 day prophecy will go on from the location of the disappointment where the prophetic prophecy ended.

The literal prophecy always gives us more understanding than the prophetic prophecy does.  This is true for at least two reasons.  First, because we have a type and second, because it is present truth.  The literal prophecy of the 2300 days (just over 6 years) also has a book that was to be eaten.  (Ezekiel. 2:9-3:3).  This book was also sweet as honey but never bitter; it too was written inside and outside. The key to understand what this book is all about is, the fact that it is written within and without. Using the Bible to help with our understanding we will go to Exodus. 32:15. And Moses turned, and went down from, the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.  Taking the two tablets of stone and putting them together we have a book written within and without. This book is the “Law and the testimony”.  Isaiah 8:20 says, To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them.  Moses was told to teach the people the law, and put it in their mouth.  See Exodus 13:9 and Deuteronomy 31:19.

In the prophetic prophecy the book was bitter in the belly. This bitterness is like the bitterness of the Disciples believing that Jesus would set up His kingdom at that time.  So at the end of the 2300 years prophetic prophecy the people understood that Jesus was coming to take His people to heaven, not that He was to go into the sanctuary to do the work of the atonement, the cleansing of the Sanctuary. This bitterness (death) continues by our not accepting the cornerstone for the Christian Church. ...Worship God! for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Rev. 19:10).  WE have learned that “the testimony” is the work of the Spirit in giving “meat in due season” to the church.  This is the foundation stone. In not accepting the foundation stone, the Church is saying that mankind is saved by Grace, and the Spirit’s work is not needed to bring NEW LIGHT to the church.

In the literal prophecy John says, And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17.  To Her offspring who accept the corner stone this Book is very sweet.  The literal prophecy also ends with the cleansing of the Sanctuary, the atonement in the wilderness (...shall be presented alive before the Lord, to make an atonement WITH him... Leviticus 16:10). Like the literal is contained in the prophetic, so the live atonement is the seed contained in the atonement Jesus made for His church. This live atonement comes on the scene in the middle of the literal week.  Like the resurrection is a new beginning so the birth is a new beginning. “Life” has no bitterness, - bitterness comes because of death.

In the literal ...the streets, for the New Jerusalem, and the wall (borders) shall be built. even in troublesome times. Daniel 9:25.  This work is For your people and for your holy city... Daniel 9:24.  This is how and why Paul could say, And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written; The Deliverer, (second Messiah, the live Atonement) will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins. Romans 11:26-27.

During the time this article was being edited and proofed, I was reminded that this knowledge was brought to me by the Spirit and by no means do I claim to have studied it out.  The work of the Spirit is the Foundation Stone of the Christian church, and it is by this means that I am able to bring these things together.

Yours in Christ to meet in His kingdom
